Heavner Grove CEOS Club hosts meeting

The Heavner Grove CEOS Club met May 8 at the Mount Rupert Church. Shirley Warner provided lunch for all.

Hilda Ketterman, the devotional leader, read from Luke 3:3-10 and from “Preparing the Way.”

The flag salute and the Lord’s Prayer were recited by all. The minutes were read by Helen Lantz and the treasurer’s report was given by Eloise Tenney.

The yard sale, bake sale and hot dog sale was noted as being a great success.

A motion was made to give a donation to the Mount Rupert Church’s building fund.

Shirley Warner read, “Are We Robbing God?” by Charles Stanley. She also did a scripture reading from Malachi, chapter 3.

Anyone interested in hosting an international student should call Margaret Riggs.

Co-president, Eloise Tenney, was chosen as the county Belle. Rosie Simons will serve as the Strawberry Belle. Eloise Tenney and Helen Lantz attended the Advisory Board meeting. It was decided to cancel the Mother-Daughter-Friend dinner. Volunteers are needed for the quilt show. This, too, may come to an end because of the lack of help.

Hilda Ketterman and Shirley Warner visited Sara Kerns at the Crestview Manor Nursing Home. Sharon Carr, the health motivator, gave a lesson on “brilliant beets.” Hilda Ketterman, the lesson leader, talked of “growing, drying and cooking” with fresh herbs.

Cards were sent to Oneta Stone, Joyce Zirkle, Sara Kerns and Danny Waugh. Show-and-tell was led by Elaine Wright, who presented a quilt, Kalidescope, which she pieced and quilted. Hilda Ketterman displayed a picture of her mother, Sara Kerns, with their family’s dog. Rosetta Kelley demonstrated and sang the Cup Song.
