El Gran Fest to feature several musical acts

El Gran Sabor restaurant in Elkins is hosting El Gran Fest, a benefit for the Randolph County Community Arts Center on Saturday, July 13, beginning at 5 p.m. Last year, the event raised $1,600 for the RCCAC Arts Education Scholarship Fund.

“El Gran Fest funds our scholarship program for disadvantaged children, so they too can participate in all of the classes and programs the Arts Center offers. I believe every child should have the same opportunities as others, and El Gran Fest is a great way to spend your Saturday for a great cause,” said Arts Center Executive Director Kurt Barkley.

The fourth annual El Gran Fest benefit will feature live music from six local bands, including The Bo Show, Blackwater Mojo, Shane Meade & The Sound, Antithesis, Neotronic and Jabberwocky. Island DJ Cheech will provide music between sets.

Tickets are $15. The event will feature El Gran Sabor’s Bobes BBQ. Sponsors for this year’s event are: Rodney Masten, Steve Plummer, Tom Came, Kevin Zurbs, The Barbs, Dilip and Ros Chandran, Christy Tribble CPA, Elkins YMCA, Pingley Realty, LLC (Connie Z. Pingley, broker), Bandland, Frank Bush, Sam Roberts, Joey’s Bike Shop, Main Line Books, Jo-Jo’s Flowers, Lynn’s Gulf, Siriannis, Big Timber Brewing, K&K Collision and Towing, Mountain State Brewing, Juaquin Gutierres, Ricardo Gutierres, Elkins Distributors, Chucho Sanchez and Family, Elkins Medical Spa and High Mountain Timber.

The Randolph County Community Arts Center, a nonprofit organization promoting and supporting the arts in Randolph County and the surrounding areas, is located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins. The Arts Center’s art education programs are supported by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, AES Laurel Mountain, LLC and Parrack Insurance.
