Poker Run for Kids scheduled for Aug. 17

The seventh annual Poker Run for Kids will take place Aug. 17. The event is a project of the Randolph/Tucker County Children’s Advocacy centers (CAC). The CAC provides services to kids who are victims of abuse and neglect.

The event will begin at the Montrose community building, which is located 11 miles north on Elkins of Route 219. To get there, turn left at the Salt Lick Road sign and drive a quarter-mile; the community building is on the left side of the road.

This year’s route begins at the community building and travels through Belington, Parsons, Canaan Valley and Elkins before circling back to Montrose.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The first bike goes out at 9 a.m., with the last one leaving at noon. All cards are due back by 4 p.m. – no exceptions.

Registration costs $20 and covers one poker run card, lunch, beverages, eligibility for door prizes and music. The first 50 players to register will receive a free T-shirt.

Player’s extra cards cost $10. The price for the lunch buffet only (for nonplayers) is $5, and the price for the breakfast buffet only (for nonplayers) is $5.
