Tucker Senior Center meeting, picnic planned

Seniors in Tucker County are gearing up for the 2013 Tucker County Senior Center Annual Picnic. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Hendricks Park. The center will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, beans, drinks and tableware. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish. Those in need of transportation may sign up at the Mt. Top and Parsons senior centers in advance of the date to insure drivers and vans are assigned.

Senior Center officials remind those traveling with the senior group to New England and Canada to call the center at 304-478-2423 with any questions regarding the trip. A registration form was mailed to those registered for the trip, and an informational meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Flanagan Hill Community Outpost will host a covered dish lunch today at noon. Those attending are should bring a covered dish to share.

The Faith and Food trip to Cumberland Aug. 19 still has a few seats remaining. The trip includes a guided tour of several historic churches and an ethnic food progressive-type meal. Time on the trip has also been set aside for shopping.

Tucker Senior Center representatives are taking names of people interested in visiting PNC Park and Pittsburgh Sept. 19. The trip will include a Pirates game. Those interested should sign up as soon as possible to insure reservations in the infield boxes and to secure the chartered bus.
