WVWC expecting largest freshmen class in 10 years
Exciting things are happening at West Virginia Wesleyan College. As the fall semester approaches, the college is preparing for the arrival of its largest freshmen class in 10 years and one of its most sizable in its 123-year history. Prospective student interest in the college continues to grow as indicated in its freshmen application numbers, and the incoming class will include approximately 470 freshmen and more than 500 total new undergraduate students.
Since 2010, freshmen applications have increased by more than 30 percent. Director of Admission John Waltz commented, “I am extremely proud of the admission team for their hard work, determination and creativity. I am also thankful for the commitment of faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and trustees in making student recruitment a college-wide commitment.”
Graduate enrollment at the college has also experienced healthy growth. In addition to increasing numbers, the academic quality of students enrolling continues to be strong. According to Bernard Valento, vice president for enrollment management, “This is an exciting period for the college as evident in recent campus facilities construction and improvements, unprecedented student achievements and interest in the college. The college continues to be recognized for its high quality and affordability.”
