Teter CEOS names club officers for 2014

The Teter CEOS met Aug. 15 at the West Virginia University Extension office.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Cathy DeBarr. Millie Hornbeck led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Janet Smith led devotions with a story about care and concern, titled “Love in Action.”

Vonnie Hager gave the secretary’s report. Iris Mae Swecker gave the treasurer’s report. Both reports were placed on file for review.

Hager and Jerry Stankus walked in the Upshur County Relay for Life. Debbie Kittle received many items to be taken to the Rosenbaum House. She will deliver them within the week. Hornbeck, Stankus, Carol Biser and Judy Beer played bingo with the patients on the third floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital on Aug. 8.

A motion was made and seconded that club officers will remain the same for another year: DeBarr as the president, Smith as the vice president, Hager as the secretary and Swecker as the treasurer.

The Teter CEOS Club will participate in the mini-fair on Sept. 6 at the Upshur County Courthouse. Members will have a window to decorate for CEOS week, and Kittle, with her committee members, will decorate it Aug. 30. The committee includes Caroline Carpenter, Sherry Caunt, Debbie Kittle, Betty Oldaker and Janet Smith.

The blanket workshop took place. The blankets are ready to take to the Head Start. DeBarr, Biser, Kittle, Hager and Justine Woody made the blankets.

On Aug. 23, a fundraiser meeting will took place at 1 p.m. with Swecker. All reorganization materials are due to the West Virginia University Extension office on Aug. 30.

The club members voted to send Hager, Cathy DeBarr and Joyce DeBarr to the state meeting Oct. 8 at Jackson’s Mill.

Refreshments were served by Stankus to those in attendance. Hornbeck was the co-hostess. Judy Beer was honored with cards and a birthday cake.

Carol Biser, Judy Beer, Annette Brake, Joyce Hoover, Millie Hornbeck, Justine Woody and Iris Mae Swecker won door prizes. The Sept. 19 meeting will take place at noon at the home of Vonnie Hager.
