D&E selects assistant director of Booth Library

Mary Jo DeJoice has been appointed assistant director of Booth Library for Davis & Elkins College.

In this capacity she works closely with Director of Booth Library, Information Services and Office Services Amy Hoffman Mattingly to facilitate the transformation of Booth Library into a 21st- century library, with a learning commons and student-focused research support. She also serves as the primary library liaison to faculty and students.

“I could not be more excited to join the college,” DeJoice said. “I am impressed with how focused D&E is on the success of the students. Plus, the projects are exciting and the people I have met are terrific.”

DeJoice brings a broad background in library services to D&E. Her professional focus is public service as well as the integration of technology into library services.

Since 2004, she was employed at Georgia State University Library, most recently as a public services librarian and prior to that as department head of Liaison and Outreach Services. She also worked at Fondulac District Library in East Peoria, Ill., as a community services librarian from 2002 to 2004, department head of Access Services at Bradley University Library in Peoria, Ill., from 1997 to 2002, and as information services librarian and library systems manager at Catawba College Library in Salisbury, N.C., from 1994 to 1997.

DeJoice earned her Master of Library Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., and her Bachelor of Science degree in instructional technology from Towson State University in Towson, Md.

In addition to books, journals and research databases, Booth Library offers a media-ready conference room, four small seminar rooms, a student lounge and a computer lab with printing and scanning capability.

Davis & Elkins College is a member of the Appalachian College Association’s Bowen Central Library which provides a shared catalog of more than 15 million unique holdings representing almost 7 million physical and virtual items. Booth Library is open to the public, as well as the college community. Fall semester hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday; Noon to 4 p.m., Saturday; and 2-10 p.m., Sunday.
