Fisher Auto Parts to participate in Operation Santa USMC

Fisher Auto Parts stores across West Virginia have teamed up with the Marine Corps Family Foundation to support deployed Marines and soldiers for the holiday season. Scott Wright and Dave Wright have worked many hours to coordinate this project within the state. Dave Wright is available at the Buckhannon location.

The Marine Corps Family Foundation was established in 2004 when two Marine moms began Operation Santa USMC. Originally their mission was to send “Christmas-in-a-box” to a platoon of 30 Marines. In two months and with the help of volunteers from across our nation more than 6,000 Marines received Operation Santa USMC packages. Since that first year the Marine Corps Family Foundation has sent more than 100,000 filled handmade holiday stockings to deployed Marines and soldiers. The Marine Corps Family Foundation mission remains one of support in a tangible way for our deployed Marines and soldiers.

During the holiday season of 2013, thousands of U.S. Marines and soldiers will be deployed in Afghanistan. For many of these Marines, this will be the first Thanksgiving and Christmas they will be away from home and family. For others, it will be just one of many deployments, but nevertheless it is difficult to be away from family and friends during the holidays, especially fighting a war.

Operation Santa 2013 will provide as many battalions as possible with Operation Santa packages.

Your assistance is needed to help fill the stockings. Items needed are: hot chocolate mixes, candy canes, gum, lifesavers, candy, beef sticks, pepperoni sticks, slim jims, nuts, granola bars, protein bars, cereal bars, Nutri-grain bars, eye drops, hand warmers, fruit snacks, fruit roll ups, dried fruit, Chap Stick, Blistex, Carmex, various types of cookies, Oreos, Nutter Butter, Animal crackers, Ritz crackers, Chips Ahoy, sunflower seeds with or without shells, tuna and chicken pouches, toenail clippers, individual drink mixes such as Propel, Gatorade and Kool-Aid, and various flavors of hard candies. Donations may be dropped off at all Fisher Auto Parts locations through Nov. 15, 2013, during regular business hours.

If you are considering a monetary donation please make the check payable to the Marine Corps Family Foundation with the name: Lisa Workman, West Virginia, Operation Santa and mail it to: 61 Palmer Drive, Unit 106, Parkersburg WV 26104.

Together, we can help make this holiday season a little merrier for our deployed service members serving in Afghanistan and other areas away from their families. Please call 304-482-2507 with questions.
