Forest Festival announces parade route

Railroad Avenue from Fourth Street to Second Street; Third Street from Railroad Avenue to Kerens Avenue; and Fourth Street from Railroad Avenue to Davis Avenue will be closed through Sunday, Oct. 6, for the Mountain State Forest Festival carnival.

Also, the Mountain State Forest Festival’s Grand Feature Parade will take place Saturday. The parade route is as follows: the parade steps off at the railroad tracks (by Southern States) in south Elkins; travels north up South Davis Avenue to Fifth Street; turns right onto Fifth Street, then turns right onto Randolph Avenue; and ends on Randolph Avenue at Hardee’s.

The trucks and the antique cars will travel east on 11th Street (from the Industrial Park), turn left onto South Davis Avenue, and then travel the same route as the Grand Feature Parade.

The following streets will be used to line parade entrants up beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5: South Davis Avenue (from North 12th Street traveling south to 15th Street); 15th Street (from South Davis Avenue traveling east to Henry Avenue); 15th Street (from South Davis Avenue traveling west to Taylor Avenue); Taylor Avenue (from 15th Street traveling north to 13th Street); 13th Street (from Taylor Avenue traveling east to South Davis Avenue); 13th Street (from South Davis Avenue traveling east to Cole Avenue); North 12th Street (from South Davis Avenue traveling east to Cole Avenue); North 12th Street (west side); 11th Street (from South Davis Avenue to the Industrial Park Road); Industrial Park Road (from 11th St traveling south to River Bend Park Road); and River Bend Park Road.
