Senior Expo will feature key resources
ELKINS – The West Virginia Aging and Disabilities Resource Center is teaming up with the Randolph County Senior Center and Davis Health System to offer an Aging and Disabilities Expo, which will provide a multitude of information to the public about valuable resources available in our
The event will be from noon until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Randolph County Senior Center. It is free to the public.
More than 15 local agencies will be on hand to provide information and answer questions on topics such as medical, legal, financial and insurance matters.
In addition, many area businesses will be present.
“The expo will assist participants in finding information specific to their needs,” said Murray Reed, resource counselor with the West Virginia ADRC. “It will showcase the many valuable resources available for seniors and those with disabilities.”
Representatives from federal, state and local agencies, including Medicare and Medicaid, will attend.
Counselors and professional staff will be present to assist with the 2013 Medicare Open Enrollment and with information about the Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplemental Insurance and prescription drug plans.
“We thank West Virginia House of Delegates Reps Bill Hartman and Denise Campbell for their support and sponsorship of this event,” Reed said.
Agencies planning to attend the expo include: the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services, West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services, Randolph County Family Resource Network, West Virginia Aging and Disabilities Resource Center, Randolph County Senior Center, Workforce West Virginia, West Virginia Division of Rehabilitative Services, West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, Northern West Virginia Council for Independent Living, West Virginia Legal Aid, Randolph County Housing Authority, Youthbuild of North Central West Virginia, West Virginia State Police, Randolph County Health Department, Alzheimer’s Association, AARP and the Elkins YMCA.
Assistance with transportation to the expo may be arranged by contacting the Elkins ADRC at 304-630-2207 no later than Monday.
