Commission sets goal to broadcast meetings

The Barbour County Commission is looking into a broadband grant that would allow it to broadcast its meetings over the city-owned local access channel.

Philippi City Council already broadcasts its meetings over the local access station to residential viewers.

Commissioners approved an application, due this week, for a $20,970 grant through the West Virginia Technical Assistant Broadband Grant Program.

If the grant is awarded to Barbour County, commissioners said they hope to broadcast their meetings to the public and also use the grant money to host a website and a Web server.
