Fun continues with Santa’s Workshop
Fridays and Saturdays are filled with fun for children as Santa’s Workshop continues in downtown Elkins.
Now in its fourth week, Santa’s Workshop offers special activities just for kids at participating businesses.
The workshop has been very successful this year, according to Elkins ON TRAC Project Manager Karen Carper.
“Businesses have reported anywhere from a half dozen to 20 or 30 kids at each activity,” Carper said. “Everyone, including business owners and staff, is having a great time.” A mix of local and visiting children are taking part in the workshop, she said.
This Friday, children can make ornaments at the Ice Cream Train, located at 212 Davis Ave., or elf hats at Elkins Sewing Center, located at 300 Davis Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m. Both activities are free of charge.
Kids can also decorate and eat their own cookie creations at Henry G’s Friday afternoon. Cookies will be served to children with a drink. The cost is $3 per child.
Mrs. Claus will welcome children for story telling at Clara Belle’s, located at 320 Davis Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Other Friday evening activities include nail painting and hair glamorizing at Terri’s Shear Magic. Kids can also make elf hats at the Elkins Sewing Center from 5 to 7 p.m.
Several activities are planned from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday.
The Kids Corner at Good Energy Foods, located at 214 Third St., will feature origami ornament making with local artist, Akiko Endo. She will provide instruction and materials for the workshop at $5 per child.
Neighboring business Talbott Frameshop, located at 220 Third St., will provide holiday portraits and framing. Photographer Debbie Sorrenson of Gold Dome Photography will take and print photos, which may also be framed during the workshop. The cost of portraits and framing begins at $5 each. Various sizes and framing choices are available.
Also beginning at 10 a.m., children can enjoy live music at Clara Belle’s while parents relax with a cup of their favorite morning beverage.
A special treat is in store for youngsters at Kissel Stop. The cafe will host a tea party for little ones at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Santa’s Workshop welcomes children 12 years of age and younger to participate in all activities. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities will continue on Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 14.
Santa’s Workshop is sponsored by Elkins ON TRAC and participating businesses.
