Huttonsville resident receives scholarship

Huttonsville resident Katelyn Demyan has been awarded a $750 Higher Education Scholarship from the Snowshoe Foundation Board of Directors.

The Foundation’s Treasure on the Mountain Raffle and several other projects have raised more than $150,000, and the foundation has awarded $35,000 in scholarship grants this year.

Deyman attends West Virginia University and has served as a drum major of the WVU Marching Band. for the past four seasons.

She is pursuing a dual integrated major in mechanical and aerospace engineering and maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.

She also is a member of the Kappa Kappa Psi band service fraternity, where she has held the offices of Vice President of Awards, Secretary and Vice President of Service.

“I would like to personally thank the Snowshoe Foundation for helping me continue my college education and pursue my dream of someday reaching for the stars,” Demyan said.

She is the daughter of Frank and Deborah Demyan and has two brothers, Steven Demyan and Kip Matthew. She is the granddaughter of Edna Mae Wood of Valley Head.
