Programs planned for Tucker seniors

As has been announced, the open enrollment for Medicare Part D is over on Dec. 7. Tucker County Senior Center officials remind you that a SHIP representative is available to help with Medicare questions that you may have throughout the year.

The Prescription Assistance Program is available for those who qualify and do not have prescription insurance to obtain low or no cost medications.

If you need information or help with any of these programs, please call Ann Filler, SHIP representative, at 304-478-2423 for a one-on-one appointment.

  • The Tucker County Senior Center has been working with the Tucker County Health Department to provide flu shot clinics throughout the county. If you still need a flu shot please call the Health Department at 304-478-3572 for an appointment and they will help you.
  • We are still taking names of people interested in attending a Christmas performance at either the Gandy Dancer Theatre or the American Mountain Theater, or perhaps both.

If enough interest is shown, a date will be set and those on the list will have first choice. If you are interested, please give call ASAP as dates are filling up quickly.

Officials are considering a trip in late spring or early summer to visit the sights in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas. The trip will probably be a three-day, two-night event.

Seniors will be going back to Lancaster, Pa., and along with the many other area possibilities will take in a show at the Sights and Sounds Theater for their latest production, “Moses.” Please call if you are interested in either of these trips.

– The Tucker County Senior Centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Officials wish all of you a wonderful holiday.

– The Parsons Center will host its December Outpost on Tuesday. The Parsons First United Methodist Church Quartet will provide special Christmas entertainment.

Please bring your covered dish and join in as officials begin the Christmas season programs. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. so please come early and enjoy the entire program.
