St. Joseph’s Hospital events set

St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary members have had a busy fall and it will continue to be busy for the next few months. September saw members attending the annual Auxiliary of West Virginia Hospital Association state meeting at the Greenbrier. Buckhannon auxiliary member Diana Simmons began her second year

as state president at that meeting.

In October, the annual volunteers’ luncheon took place at the First United Methodist Church. It is sponsored by St. Joseph’s Hospital to recognize the hospital auxiliary volunteers.

At that meeting, Sue Johnson-Philippe, CEO of the hospital, gave members a report updating hospital progress and changes. A check was presented to President Esther Dyer from gift shop chairperson Shirley Lewis. This check, along with the other checks, will be presented to the hospital from the auxiliary.

November and December will be busy with the following activities:

– Nov. 18 – Red Cross blood drive sponsored by the Auxiliary.

– Nov. 4-Dec. 16 – A pre-lit tree fully decorated with many hand-made ornaments will be on display either in the gift shop or the hospital lobby. Donation tickets will be sold for $1 or six for $5. They can be

purchased in the gift shop. The drawing will take place Dec. 16.

– Dec. 6 – A bake sale will take place in the hospital lobby sponsored by the auxiliary. The sale starts at 7 a.m. until all items are sold. There are always plenty of goodies. Everyone is welcome to come and purchase these goodies.

-Dec. 18 – The Books-Are-Fun sale will take place in the hospital library from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome

to come.

The proceeds from all these activities are donated to the hospital by the auxiliary. Volunteers are always needed and the public is welcome to join. If interested call Esther Dyer, the president, at 304-472-3046, or Yvonne Foster, the membership chairperson, at 304-472-5193.
