WVWC opens student center

On Oct. 30, West Virginia Wesleyan College’s School of Business celebrated the official grand opening of their new IOGA Student Center.

The Halloween-themed event took place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while over 200 students, faculty, and staff “trick or treated” by the Center to see the room’s capabilities and enjoyed refreshments.

The West Virginia Independent Oil and Gas Association generously donated funds to cover the expenses of the Student Center.

The Student Center includes many resources for business students such as a conference room with a computer, whiteboard, conference table, and television for practicing presentations. There is also a lounge within the Student Center, allowing students to relax or wait comfortably in between classes.

Formed in 1959, WV IOGA is a statewide, non-profit trade association representing companies engaged in the extraction and production of natural gas and oil in West Virginia, as well as companies and individuals supporting extraction. WV IOGA was formed to promote and protect a strong, competitive and capable independent natural gas and oil producing industry in West Virginia.

“The School of Business is extremely grateful for WV IOGA’s generous donation and is eager to see the benefits the center will provide for Wesleyan’s business students,” stated Susan Aloi, director of the School of Business.
