FBLA attends state conference

Members and advisers of the Randolph Technical Center Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the WV FBLA Fall Conference on Oct. 7-8 at Flatwoods.

On Monday, during the opening general session, State Auditor Glen Gainer spoke to the students about their financial future.

Chapter members had the opportunity to attend workshops on financial literacy topics including Cyber Crime, money matters, stock market game, and frauds and scams among others.

They also participated in competition round table sessions, general sessions, and were given the opportunity to take an objective test on various areas of business including Accounting I & II, business calculations, marketing, word processing, sports management and many others.

On Tuesday, there were workshops on conducting a meeting, speaking and performance tips, running for state office, and tips for taking tests.

Students were able to participate in “Minute to Win It” type games on Monday night where they earned “business bucks” for playing the carnival-type games.

The Randolph Technical Center chapter placed second for earning the “business bucks.”

On Tuesday morning, the members participated in a “Battle of the Chapters” where they answered questions pertaining to FBLA principles and procedures, by laws, dress code, publications, current events and other information about FBLA.

Randolph Technical Center members Jack Daniels, Daniel Toney, and Christine Zurbuch placed second. Devan Ricottilli received first place in the Sports Management objective test.
