Holiday Open House coming this weekend

Holiday shoppers can experience a local holiday tradition Friday and Saturday in downtown Elkins.

The annual Holiday Open House offers shoppers a chance to win prizes with each purchase at participating downtown businesses.

A total of $250 in gift certificate giveaways will be awarded in a drawing on Dec. 9. One $100 gift certificate, two valued at $50 and two $25 certificates will be awarded.

The Holiday Open House is sponsored by Elkins ON TRAC.

Vickie Roidt, owner of Main Line Books, said, “It represents an opportunity for us to say ‘thank-you’ to the folks who patronize local businesses

Dustin Smith, the AmeriCorps member managing The Delmonte Market, a new business co-op in the historic Delmonte Hotel, said, “Most of the market’s 10 booths are local artisans with locally made goods.”

Shoppers will have a chance to enter a drawing for gift certificates with each purchase at participating businesses. A raffle ticket will be issued with every purchase, allowing shoppers to enter as many times as they buy. Winners will be notified on Dec. 9.

Winners can spend their certificates at various participating stores. All gift certificates will expire

Jan. 1.

Many businesses will also welcome shoppers with refreshments and specials. Some businesses host open houses on Friday, while others will have special events on Saturday.

Participating businesses on Davis Avenue include Artists at Work, Clara Belle’s, Elkins Sewing Center, Jabberwock, Main Line Books, Papa John’s Pizza and Tricket Hardware.

On Third Street, B&J Music, Counter Culture Concepts, Henry G’s, Hopscotch, Joey’s Bike Shop, Talbott Frameshop, TD’s Classic Tees, and Third Street Trading Company will participate.

Cardinal Creations and Mee Mee’z Cafe & Cakes, both on Kerens Avenue, will also take part, as will The Delmonte Market on Railroad Avenue.
