Knights of Pythias initiates new members
ELKINS – Tygart Lodge No. 76 of the Order of Knights of Pythias hosted a membership initiation last month at the Elkins IOOF Lodge Hall on the Beverly five-lane.
Keith Stooksberry, supreme vice chancellor, represented the Supreme Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
State officers for West Virginia included Donald Stamm, grand chancellor; Emil Suder, grand vice chancellor; W. Larry Ferguson, grand secretary; Monte Miller, grand treasurer; Charles McClure, grand prelate; Sherman Riffle, grand master-at-arms; Warren DeBarr, grand inner guard; and Marvin Wyatt, grand outer guard.
New members included Paul Brady III, Claude DeBarrr, Ray Chewning, Gail Cogar, Robert Bullion and Kenny Truer.
The Order of Knights of Pythias was founded by Justus Rathbone and approved by an act of Congress with its charter signed by president Abraham Lincoln on Feb. 19, 1864, in Washington, D.C. It is founded on the principles of friendship, charity, and benevolence and its aim is to promote friendship and goodwill toward all.
