Karnes announces candidacy for 11th Senatorial district

Robert Karnes announced today his intention to seek election to the 11th district of the West Virginia State Senate.

Karnes is a West Virginia native, who grew up in Nitro and graduated from Poca High School. Robert and his wife, Amy, have been married for 19 years and have eight children. Together they teach the teenage Sunday school class at Tallmansville Baptist Church. Karnes is a constitutional conservative who will help rebuild West Virginia’s economy and educational system.

Karnes has a wide variety of experience in the work force including retail sales, construction, field services and information technology. He has more than 20 years’ experience troubleshooting complex IT systems and has traveled throughout North America building and servicing satellite and terrestrial networks.

Karnes has helped launch several small businesses. Currently he is the President of FSIS, Inc., founded in 1987 and Dark Horse, LLC, founded in 2006. FSIS, Inc. is a nationwide field services company specializing in Information Technology. Dark Horse is an investment company that focuses primarily on real estate.

He is confident he can effectively apply his extensive experience resolving complex IT issues to the problems facing West Virginia’s economy and education systems.

He believes a state like West Virginia offering abundant natural resources and a motivated intelligent population should be an economic leader in our nation. Unfortunately, years of poor leadership in Charleston have short-changed the Mountain State. West Virginia typically ranks last or nearly last in every major economic indicator and our schools consistently rank 49th or 50th in the nation.

Karnes is prepared to help lead in the senate. Free-market reforms can make West Virginia the natural choice for businesses fleeing high tax states like New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Karnes’s experience assisting customers and guiding employees through projects large and small will be invaluable as West Virginia begins creating a strong and vibrant economy. Improving West Virginia schools by returning local control and focusing on early education will ensure our children are ready to seize the opportunities offered by a revitalized economy.

Karnes ran for House of Delegates in the 44th district in 2012. He was recently awarded the Upshur Republican Party Patriotism Award.
