New teacher hired at HAS

Stacy Blanzy has joined the faculty of Highland Adventist School. Blanzy, a 2009 graduate of the school, will be the homeroom teacher for middle school students.

“I’m very excited to finally be teaching, and HAS is a great place to start,” Blanzy said. “I have a lot of support, there is a strong family atmosphere, and of course wonderful students to top it all off.”

Blanzy graduated in December from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn. with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

She is certified to teach grades kindergarten through eighth and brings musical and youth ministry abilities with her. Blanzy will direct the school choir in addition to her classroom responsibilities. She is the daughter of Tom and Bobbi Blanzy of Elkins.

“Ever since Stacy left Elkins to pursue her elementary education degree, we have hoped she would come back to join our staff,” HAS Principal Cheryl Jacko said.
