Community Education courses slated

ELKINS – Registration is open for more than 25 Davis & Elkins College Community Education classes being offered this winter and spring.

“I am very excited for this semester’s offerings, We have a large list of courses with the most variety we have had yet,” Liz Marshall-MacVean, D&E community education coordinator, said. “Our instructors are awesome and excited to serve the community in this capacity.”

All classes are non-credit. Sessions take place in the evenings or on weekends.

Creative arts classes include: Chainmaille Jewelry, March 20 to April 10; Easter Basket Making, April 5; Hand Embroidery, April 7 to April 28; Knitting, Feb. 4 to March 11; Spring Flower Arranging, March 25 to April 8; and Wall Basket Making, Feb. 1.

In dance, music and theater categories, participants may choose from Banjo, March 25 to May 13; Children’s Community Chorus, Feb. 3 to May 5; Guitar for Adults II, Feb. 4 to April 8; Irish Step Dancing, Feb. 5 to March 12; Learning to Play Fiddle, Feb. 4 to March 25; Opera – “La Boheme” by Puccini, March 5 and 12, with a trip on March 16; Theatre and Acting for Children, April 3 to May 8; and Womyn’s Dance and Improvisational Movement, Feb. 4 to March 11.

Culinary and nutrition classes include: Brewing Beer, May 1 to May 18; Couponing, Feb. 6 and 13; Mead Making, March 13 and 27; Preparing Easter Dinner, April 1; Romantic Cooking for Your Valentine, Feb. 4; and St. Patty’s Cooking, March 11.

Recreation classes feature Building Yoga Foundations, Feb. 4 to March 11; Fly Tying, Feb. 27 to March 13; Tennis for Adults, April 2 to May 14; and Zumba, Jan. 28 to May 8.

In addition, a Resume Building class will be offered on March 12.
