Ecosmith coming to D&E

ELKINS – Davis & Elkins College will present a free concert featuring up- and-coming indie-pop sensation Echosmith at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday at The Icehouse on the College campus. In addition, the band will perform the National Anthem prior to the men’s basketball game at

4 p.m.

Recently voted as one of MTV’s 2014 Artists to Watch, Echosmith consists of Sierota siblings Jamie on vocals and guitar; Sydney on vocals and keyboard; Noah on vocals and bass; and Graham on drums.

Ranging in age from 14 to 20, the members of Echosmith were influenced by the music they listened to growing up – which includes a lot of early-1980s New Wave – and can be heard in their songs “Come With Me” and “The Safest Place.”

Those songs, along with “Cool Kids,” were already familiar to fans when the band released its debut 14-track album, “Talking Dreams,” on Warner Bros. Records in October 2013.

Echosmith spent their summer crisscrossing the country on the Vans Warped Tour. Originally slotted for only the first half, Echosmith’s overwhelmingly positive crowd response resulted in their being added to the entire run.

Prior to the tour, Echosmith gained attention with their first single, “Tonight We’re Making History.” The song was released in June 2012 and was featured in an NBC promo for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The band’s song “Surround You” is featured on the “Endless Love Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” slated for release on February 11.

“Davis & Elkins College over the years has had some real success in catching artists on the rise,” says D&E Vice President for Student Affairs Scott Goddard. “From Dierks Bentley to The Lumineers, there is not a small college or university in the country that can cite a similar track record. The Trendsetter Tour featuring Echosmith presented by Concert Ideas will bring an artist to campus and to Elkins that has some real potential to be ‘the next big thing.'”

After their Davis & Elkins performance, Echosmith continues touring throughout the East Coast, and plans a major summer tour announcement later this month.
