Spring Art Stroll invites artists
“Calling artists of all genres, artisans and downtown businesses to join us in our fifth Philippi Art Stroll,” says the Main Street volunteer committee working with partner Barbour County Schools as they prepare for the April 29 downtown evening event.
The first stage of the Art Stroll is securing artists, artisans and area businesses eager to open their doors from 5-8 p.m. the evening of the Art Stroll. Visual, musical, literary and dramatic artists are invited to exhibit their creative endeavors in the businesses that serve as exhibit sites for the event.
In the past, exhibits have been staged inside businesses, churches, the library, and on the Courthouse square and front porches of Philippi’s Main Street. These arrangements are available again for this year’s spring stroll. Additionally, area eateries are encouraged to participate by offering “Art Stroll Specials” on their menus the evening of the stroll.
Artists, artisans, businesses and other facilities are asked to register to participate by contacting Karen Larry, Art Stroll volunteer, at 304-457-3773 or Tammy Stemple, Main Street director, at 304-457-3700, ext. 226 no later than Feb. 26. This date will enable the committee to place artists at exhibit sites and to prepare advance publicity.
