Star of ‘The Voice’ comes to D&E
ELKINS – Davis & Elkins College presents Tony Lucca, a finalist from the second season of NBC’s “The Voice,” in a free concert at 10:30 p.m. today in The Icehouse.
Doors open at 10 p.m. for the Mardi Gras-themed event. Lucca also will sing the National Anthem before the men’s basketball game set to begin at 4 p.m. today.
With a 20-plus year career in the entertainment business, Lucca has worked as a singer, songwriter, producer and actor. This week he previewed brand new, unreleased songs from his upcoming acoustic EP on stageit.com. The EP, to be recorded later this month, follows the July 2013 release of his EP “With the Whole World Watching,” which features the hit “Never Gonna Let You Go.”
Capturing America’s hearts in 2012 as the Team Adam finalist on “The Voice,” Lucca’s cover of Hugo’s version of Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” propelled him to the No. 3 spot on iTunes Overall Singles sales chart and No. 1 on iTunes Rock Singles chart.
Additionally, Lucca’s duet of “Yesterday” by The Beatles with coach Adam Levine (Maroon 5) landed Top 5 on iTunes Overall and Pop Singles sales charts. In 2011, Lucca appeared as himself on NBC’s “Parenthood” performing his song “Like Love.” He was also tapped to appear in friend Justin Timberlake’s 901 tequila commercial spot.
His songs have been featured on TV’s “Friday Night Lights,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Shark” and “Felicity” and in Kevin Costner’s feature “Open Range.” He has been seen on E! Entertainment Television and A&E, and performed numerous times on NBC’s “Last Call With Carson Daly.”
Following his performance at Davis & Elkins, Lucca begins the Off the Record Tour with Honor by August, Matt Duke and Toddy Carey.
