Veterans support group to form in Buckhannon
BUCKHANNNON – There will be a new Veterans Support Group in Buckhannon. This group is open to all veterans and their support persons. This will be an open-share group, and depending on size, the group may be divided into smaller groups.
These support groups are starting in other states and are becoming a vital support to our country’s veterans. Mood disorders engulf 24 percent of our population, and West Virginia is no exception.
This group is being sponsored by the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. DBSA is the leading national organization of peers helping peers. Presently, there are 12 DBSA chapters throughout the state and two veterans’ support groups.
“We’ve been there, we can help” is the motto for DBSA, which currently serves over 150 throughout the state at meetings.
This new Veterans Support Group will meet March 21, at the VFW on Kanawha Street (off Main Street) in Buckhannon. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and should last about 90 minutes. For more information, please call or email Diana Thompson at 304-372-1947 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
