Barbour Candidates Night slated

Ron Phillips, president of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce and manager of the Builders Center, has announced the names of candidates who are registered to appear at the Chamber’s Candidates Night at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 7, in the auditorium of Philip Barbour High School.

“We have confirmations to date from the following candidates who report they will attend,” he said, “including, for the U.S. Senate, David Wamsley; West Virginia Senate, Stan Shaver; West Virginia House of Delegates, Clayton Moore, Danny Wagner, Derek Hart, Robert Perrine Jr., Ken Auvil, and Tammy Stemple; Barbour County Commission, Judy Gain, Jim Kines Jr. and Tim McDaniel; and for the Barbour County Board of Education, Reggie Trefethen.”

Starting at 6 p.m., refreshments will be available from the co-sponsoring Barbour County Education Association, served by the Philip Barbour High School Civics Class. Candidates are invited to display their literature at that hour.

The evening’s program begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. when candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions from the floor. Questions are to be presented to the moderator in writing to check for relevance and to avoid duplication. The names of the questioners will not be announced. Mike Cvechko of Cvechko Insurance Services will serve as moderator.

Candidates who have yet to respond to their invitation may register their participation by contacting Cvechko at his office at 304-457-5433 or emailing by April 4th.
