Chapel service reflects on year

ELKINS – The final chapel service for the 2013-2014 academic year at Davis & Elkins College will provide a time for reflection and celebration of learning experiences.

Scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Thursday in Robbins Memorial Chapel, the service is open to the D&E community and the public.

Davis & Elkins is one of 65 Presbyterian colleges in the United States and the only one in West Virginia.

“Education is an incredible mission of the church,” says Benfield-Vick Chaplain the Rev. Kevin Starcher. “This is a service of gratitude for the learning experience of the past year.”

Student participants will read liturgy, offer prayer and provide piano accompaniment. In addition, they will be invited to share their triumphs and challenges of the academic year.

Starcher’s sermon will focus on “seeing God in the ordinary and mundane, and how God has been with us all throughout the academic year.”

Services are conducted in Robbins Memorial Chapel on the first Thursday of every month at 11:15 a.m. during the academic year.
