WVWC offers free performance today

BUCKHANNON – Alpha Psi Omega and Jessica Tichenor bring to you “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer,” located at the Virginia Thomas Performing Arts Center of West Virginia Wesleyan College today.

The show is free admission; though donations are accepted. The performance starts at 8 p.m.

The piece is divided into two acts, the first being “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” and the second “Reclaiming the Stage.” The show runs around two hours with a 10-minute intermission between acts.

“A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” was written by Eve Ensler and is being directed by senior student Jessica Tichenor.

The piece uses women – both students and faculty – on the Wesleyan campus to speak about empowering oneself.

The second half of the show is “Reclaiming the Stage,” which is made up of students and faculty members’ personal work in poetry, music, photography, performance, physical art, etc.

During the piece,

assistant directors Alyssa Stadelman of Buckhannon, Rachel Channell of Elkins and Phil Fisher of South Charleston will step in as director for some of

the segments.

Some of the actors in the performance include faculty member John Waltz of Buckhannon, senior student Micah Speice of Lewisburg and freshman student Olivia Hancock of Huntingdon, Pa.
