Chamber to host 30th annual Auto Extravaganza

The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce will host the 30th annual Mountain State Street Machines Auto Extravaganza on July 4-6.

The volunteer committee and Chamber staff have dedicated nearly six months in the planning and execution of this popular community event.

The car show weekend has become a favorite for car collectors, fans and spectators from near and far. The Auto Extravaganza kicks off Friday night as the beautifully restored and maintained classic cars and trucks “cruise in” to Railroad Avenue and Third Street. The streets will be closed to traffic so viewers can browse and enjoy the vintage car display.

Disc jockey Dan Barkley will be providing classic rock-n-roll music in front of the Depot throughout the evening as participants arrive. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the town square will be the WDNE Country Showdown. Concessions will be provided by the Knights of Columbus and the Chamber will be selling Zul’s frozen lemonades. The evening will end with a grand display of fireworks in celebration of Independence Day.

The Auto Extravaganza will continue Saturday and Sunday in the Elkins City Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Car Show entry registration will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. Registered cars and trucks receive a goody bag, commemorative dash and participation plaque to display, commemorative 30th anniversary pin and will be entered into various prize drawings throughout the weekend. This includes the grand prize drawings for an engine, a transmission and a wheels and tires package.

The Chamber will also be selling Zul’s frozen lemonades and other novelties in the City Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
