Charity golf event planned
The Barbour County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Annual Charity golf scramble at Barbour Country Club today.
All proceeds from the tournament support scholarships and activities at Philip Barbour High School.
If you are not a golfer and would like to make a donation to this great event, please send your check made payable to Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, 101 College Hill Drive/2124, Philippi, WV 26416. Please indicate scholarships in the memo section of your check.
The format of the event will be a little more exciting than prior years.
The teams will be broken out into an A Flight and B flight with flight designations being determined at sign in. Each Flight will pay $500 with the awards being broken down into $300-first place and $200 second place.
Total cash prizes will be $1,000. Payouts and the ability to Flight the tournament is based on a minimum of 8 teams.
Teams are $200 each which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and use of 2 golf carts per team. Hole sponsorships are $100.
There will also be golf packages that will be awarded as skill prizes and door prizes to Stonewall Jackson Golf Course, Canaan Valley, Highlands in Franklin, Cacapon Country Club, Glenville Country Club, Cherry Hill Golf Course, Holly Meadows in Parsons and Pocahontas County. There will also be a $10,000 Hole in One opportunity for a lucky golfer.
