Bluegrass Fair is Saturday
PARSONS – For those who love both bluegrass and helping children, the Bluegrass Community Fair is a perfect event.
The Bluegrass Community Fair began as a way to further entertain campers that arrived early for the Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival. But it quickly turned into a fundraising event for the community. It will be Saturday at Five River Campground. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
“Special Olympic games draw attention to children’s abilities rather than their disabilities. These events instill self confidence and pride, which all children need,” said promoter Joyce Bowers
The fair gets underway at 9 a.m. with a tractor and car show followed by the quilt show, cakewalk, fair games and activities for all ages until 1 p.m., when the Minnie Pearl lookalike contest begins with a talent show following.
And it doesn’t end there. The evening entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. with The Froggy Mountain Brothers from Tahiti, followed by national recording bluegrass artist Larry Gillis and Swampgrass.
All prizes awarded are won by public opinion. There are no set-up fees for vendors or displays. To register for the talent show or more information, call 304-871-7380. Professional sound will be provided.
