Philippi Library receives grant
The Philippi Public Library was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $175 from the Barbour County Community Foundation to purchase a bicycle rack for the library.
The grant allowed the library to provide a safe place for patrons to park their bikes while visiting the library. The bicycle rack was assembled by a library volunteer and is currently located near the rear steps of the library.
Caroline Jett, Philippi Public Library trustee, said, “The library greatly appreciates the grant by the Foundation. With this much-needed improvement, bicycles will be placed in one secure location, thus eliminating a safety hazard.”
The mission of the Barbour County Community Foundation is to build a better life for the citizens of Barbour County in work, play and retirement. The Foundation focuses its early grant making in the areas of arts and culture, health and human services, education, public recreation or beautification and youth services.
