Tri-County Fair offers fun; Montgomery Gentry plays tonight

PETERSBURG – For 94 years, the Tri-County Fair has been a cherished homecoming in Grant, Hardy and Pendleton counties showcasing the best in homemade, homegrown, family fun.

The 2014 fair will spotlight local agriculture, horticulture and youthful showmanship of tenderly raised livestock. It will offer a bushel of family fun through Aug. 2 at the Petersburg Fairgrounds.

While enjoying country fair events – including judging livestock, a fair queen scholarship pageant, country and gospel music, country cooking and amusement rides – fairgoers will financially support youth enterprise, local churches and civic groups.

Various activities include a calf scramble, an art show, a lamb/goat costume contest and obstacle course, a pet show, a pedal power contest, an antique tractor pull, a corn hole tournament, good ole country games, and mutin’ bustin’ – sheep rodeo.

General admission to the fairgrounds is free for children younger than six; $2 for children 6-12; and $5 for all others. A season pass, available at the Fair Office or gates, provides discount admission at $25 for the entire fair.

A shuttle bus service from Petersburg High School parking area will operate for the public each evening.
