Weese returns to post at Augusta Heritage Center

ELKINS – Janet Weese has been appointed administrative coordinator at Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College, a position she returns to after a two-year hiatus.

In this capacity, Weese is responsible for all bookkeeping, enrollment maintenance and overall office functions that support both the Augusta Heritage Center and Arts & Entertainment programs at the College.

“I am pleased to return to the Davis & Elkins College community and to work with Beth King in promoting the Augusta heritage arts program,” Weese says.

A 1993 graduate of Davis & Elkins College with an Associate of Arts degree in business administration, Weese served as the administrative coordinator for Augusta Heritage Center from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, she worked as an administrative assistant in the College’s Business Office. Before joining the College, she worked in the health care field in an administrative capacity.

“We are very happy to welcome Janet back to the Augusta office,” says King, director of the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College. “Her business and organizational skills add a level of professionalism to our office that keep things running smoothly both for our staff and for our students.

“She is the guru of our new online registration system, assists with our grant applications and reports, and more. In just the few short months she has been in this position, we have seen such positive improvements in the efficiency of our office.”

A Center of Excellence for more than 40 years, the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College offers several week-long programs featuring instruction in many traditions of music, dance, craft and folklore. Concerts, dances, a summer festival and other heritage arts events are part of the Augusta experience. The Augusta Heritage Center is also home to significant collections of field recordings, oral histories, photographs, instruments and Appalachian art.

Programs offered by the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College are presented with financial support from the WV Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on

the Arts.
