BUCKWHEAT AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat cakes and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon today at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-lane. The menu will consist of sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and coffee, milk or orange juice. Eggs will be available for purchase separately. Take out will be available.

WREATH MAKING: Wreath making workshop conducted by Teena Harman will begin at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Participants will create and take home a decorative wreath, adaptable to many holidays and themes. Pre-registration must be made by today at 304-257-4891. Enrollment is limited. BASIC PISTOL/CONCEALED CARRY COURSE: Basic pistol/concealed carry course will be Sunday at the Coalton Veterans of Foreign Wars in Coalton. Registration can be done online through EventBrite or on the day of the event. CITY HALL CLOSED: Elkins City Hall will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day. Garbage service will run on regular schedule.

PROJECT LIFE CHANGE: The Davis & Elkins College Sport Science Department its now hosting its spring session of Project Life Change. The free program will cover nutrition, activity and overall wellness education with the aim of helping participants create a better, healthier lifestyle. Sessions will meet from 6-7 p.m. every Monday through March 25 in Eshelman Science Center Room 400 on the D&E campus. STAFF FROM CONGRESSMAN ALEX X. MOONEY’S OFFICE: Staff from the congressman’s office will host mobile office hours to assist constituents. If you are having trouble with a federal agency, Mooney’s staff will answer questions from problems with Social Security and Medicare benefits to obtaining a passport or questions about the IRS. TVHA MEETING: The Tygart Valley Homestead Association meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Homestead Community Center, formerly Homestead School in Dailey. All are invited to attend. We are looking for a few talented and conscientious hands-on volunteer board members to help strengthen, lead and develop the school building as a public place for social activities, youth events, educational opportunities, meetings, entertainment, cultural activities, wellness center, pop-up shops, etc. If you can contribute your time, thoughtfulness and leadership a few evenings a month and are interested in exploring this opportunity or know someone who might be a good board member, call Tom Rennix, president, at 304-940-1855.

FARM BUREAU MEETING: Randolph County Farm Bureau will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Pioneer. The speaker will be a representative from the Randolph County Board of Education discussing the proposed levy.

BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center presents the February Brown Bag Concert featuring Love Songs performed by Seth Maynard at noon. Wednesday. The concert is free and open to the public.

YOUTH COMMITTEE MEETING: Region VI Workforce Development Board Youth Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Region VI Workforce Development Board offices in Rose Plaza in White Hall. RCDW MEETING: The Randolph County Democratic Women will meet beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodford Church. A guest speaker from the Randolph County Board of Education will present information about the upcoming levy and answer questions. Following the regular meeting and beginning at 6:30 p.m. the group will hold a strategic planning session. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share. HIGHLAND DANCE CLASSES: Free recreational five-week Highland dance classes will take place from 6-7 p.m. every Thursday, beginning Thursday, with the exception of March 7. The sessions will be instructed by D&E Highland Dancers in the Creative Commons area of Myles Center for the Arts and are open to anyone age 12 and older. REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE: A consumer representative from the Attorney General Morrisey’s Office will conduct public events throughout the north central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. Scheduled events are: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Upshur County Senior Citizens Opportunity Center, 28 N. SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Elkins Church of the Nazarene Women’s Ministries will host a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church’s Family Life Center. BREAKFAST/BRUNCH: The Harman Senior Center will host a breakfast/brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 24. Meals will consist of one biscuit with gravy, eggs and home fries; two biscuits with gravy, eggs and home fries; or one biscuit with eggs and home fries and cinnamon rolls. Meals will include one drink. Extra milk and juice will be available for purchase.

ADULT COMPREHENSIVE PHYSICALS: Davis Medical Center will offer no-cost health care – adult comprehensive physicals from 1-5 p.m. Feb. 26. Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, call 304-637-3894.

CAMERA CLUB: The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Upshur County Senior Center. For those who wish to participate in the photo of the month activity, the topic is “valentine.” The lesson is shutter speed. Members and guests welcomed.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART: The 22st annual Jump Rope for Heart will take place from 2-3 p.m. March 2 in the Midland Elementary School gym. A goal of $4,000 has been set for this year.

SPAY-GHETTI DINNER: Randolph County Humane Society will host the eighth annual spay-ghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. March 9 at the Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins.

CAREER EXPO: The Davis & Elkins College 2019 Career Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 18 in Myles Center for the Arts. Area businesses will be available to discuss employment opportunities. Job seekers should bring copies of their resume and professional dress is required for admission.
