Truth in God’s word
The Bible consists of written “scriptures.” This is not like any other book. It is a library of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.
In the Old Testament, “holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:21 In the New Testament, the apostle Paul wrote that “We speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” 1 Corinthians 2:13
Thus, the words have been given by inspiration of God. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 When they are translated faithfully and accurately into another language (i.e. English), the Bible is the authoritative word of God for mankind to follow through faith. Let us “rightly divide it.” 2 Timothy 2:15
In John 6:63b, Jesus said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” In John 8:28, Jesus said, “When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”
