Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival set for Aug. 1-5
DAVIS — It’s bluegrass music at its finest in West Virginia during the annual Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival on Aug. 1-5.
Each year the Five River Campground hosts Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival. With a sparling camping facility and a no-alcohol policy, the event is a wonderful, family-friendly environment to listen and jam to some of the country’s best bluegrass, visit vendors, fish, swim or just relax.
Twenty-five different groups will take to the stage this year to entertain crowds with some of the finest traditional bluegrass and hillbilly music in the south.
“Now in its 14th year, the event draws a strong crowd following from all across the region,” Jessica Waldo, Tucker County Convention & Visitors Bureau director, said.
“We have people driving in from Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina to enjoy these nationally recognized musicians and some good old fashioned pickin’ and grinnin.'”
Appearing in concert will be: Aug. 1, Little Roy & Lizzy Show, Terry Baucom & the Dukes of Drive, Hillbilly Gypsies, Flatt Lonesome and Blue Highway; Aug, 2, The Boxcars, Lonesome River Band, The Moron Brothers, The Gibson Brothers and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; Aug. 3, Dave Adkins Band, The Grascals, Larry Stephenson Band, Ronnie Reno & Reno Tradition and Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time; Aug. 4, Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice, Nothin’ Fancy, Becky Buller Band, Jakobs Ferry Stragglers and Larry Sparks & the Lonesome Ramblers; and Aug. 5, Blue Mafia, IIIrd Tyme Out, Bluegrass Brothers, Band of Ruhks and Jerry Douglas presents the Earls of Leicester.
