CCC schedules several upcoming events

QUIET DELL — The West Virginia State Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, located in Harrison County, Harrison County Commission Quiet Dell Grade School Property announces the major event dates for 2018.

WVSCCC Museum President Reggie Rogers of Chub Run said the museum board of directors has released the event schedule.

CCC Museum Curator Joy Winet of Fairmont has released the following schedule:

• March 31, the annual CCC Anniversary Commemoration Celebration. (museum, Quiet Dell);

• May 5 annual Spring CCC Honors Luncheon (museum, Quiet Dell);

• Oct. 20, Autumn Annual CCC Honors Luncheon at the Quiet Dell School, Museum.

Winet reported that there will be no formal meetings during January and February.

Winet commented, “We are finalizing the activities at these annual events. We are much appreciative of the West Virginia Heritage Crafts organization for keeping a close eye on our museum during the inclement weather.”

Rogers said, “Like all museums, the winter has affected our attendance. We are working hard to keep up the museum and appreciate all that our members and donors are doing for this precious historic Quiet Dell Grade School, and the CCC Museum.

“The Harrison County Commission has been very supportive and this should continue. We look forward to the new displays and better weather,” he said.
