Pickens School Partners with Helvetia Public Library

Submitted photo The Helvetia Public Library Board of Trustees approved a measure allowing their library director to work two hours a week at the Pickens School library. This will help the school to plan reading activities that will expand interest in reading for the whole community, as well as coordinating the two library collections. Helvetia Public Library director Doug Davis has started visiting Pickens School, reading to elementary students, and sharing the Helvetia Public Library collection with all students. Students are also being given the opportunity to register for library cards, giving them access to all the libraries in the system, and also opening up the opportunity to teach students how to utilize a public library to advance their academic careers.
