D&E Debate Team plans event today

ELKINS — The Davis & Elkins College Speech and Debate Team will host a public debate at 7 p.m. today in Eshleman Science Center 400.

The topic is “Davis & Elkins College Should Create a Black Student Union.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Senior Emily Coffman, of Elkins, and sophomore Emily Alexander, of Strasburg, Virginia, will argue for the proposition. Sophomore Thaddeus Breckenridge, of Beckley, and sophomore Jakeya Perrin, of Huntington, will participate on the opposing side.

Audience participation is encouraged and there will be opportunities to ask questions of the competitors.
