United Way to host luncheon

Event Friday at YMCA will offer hoagies

ELKINS — Nearing the end of United Way of Randolph County’s fundraising campaign, organization representatives hope to reach their goal with an Italian meatball hoagie luncheon.

The fundraiser is set at the Elkins YMCA from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

The signature meatballs are being made by St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild of Coalton and will be topped with mozzarella cheese. Peppers are offered on the side.

Meatball hoagie lunches will be available for carry-out or dine-in and will include the hoagie, chips and bottled water.

“United Way provides many benefits for the community of Randolph County, particularly for families in great need,” said Gary Clay in a news release. “We are very appreciative that the infamous St. Patrick’s cooks have teamed with us to offer this meatball hoagie luncheon as a fundraiser to help us top our goal. We invite everyone to join us for lunch in support of United Way and the many families we help feed, the people we help after a fire, the children we provide assistance to in sexual-abuse cases, the seniors we provide meals for and the many other great causes we help fund.”

Sponsors of the event are Huntington Bank and Mountain Valley Bank. Allegheny Insurance Services provided the bottled water.

Anyone who is unable to attend the meatball luncheon but is interested in supporting United Way can send a contribution to United Way of Randolph County, P.O. Box 1085, Elkins WV 26241.

The United Way also is collecting items for an outdoor rummage sale to be held in early spring. Items may be dropped off at the United Way office during business hours at 309 Henry Ave. Arrangements can be made for pick-up of large items by calling 304-636-0516.
