Bears talk scheduled

CANAAN VALLEY — Steve Rauch, a wildlife biologist for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, is scheduled to present a program about black bears at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Canaan Valley Resort State Park.

Rauch’s talk will include information about bear biology, research, nuisance and management. Everyone is welcome. After the program, information on the upcoming West Virginia Master Naturalist classes in Canaan Valley and Elkins will be presented for those interested.

Classes will begin in Canaan Valley on April 6.

Anyone who is unable to attend and wants information about the Canaan Valley classes can contact Andrea Dalton at 304-866-7037 or ADalton2000@yahoo.com

The Canaan Valley chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalists squeezes 62 hours of instruction into four very full weekends. Information about the Elkins Master Naturalist classes also will be available. The Elkins chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalists usually offers a schedule of two classes per month.

Casey Rucker will present a program on crow and raven intelligence at 7 p.m. April 11 at the DNR Operations Center, located on Ward Road in Elkins. After the program, information will be presented on the Elkins chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalists and its 2018 classes. This will be the same information presented in Canaan Valley, so attendees can attend one or both.
