Miss Elkins contests crown winners

ELKINS — A new Miss Elkins Area and Outstanding Teen were crowned during a competition on March 10 at the Gandy Dancer Theater in Elkins.

Madeline Collins was crowned Miss Elkins Area 2018, and Adriana Schelhase was crowned Miss Elkins Area’s Outstanding Teen 2018.

Collins is student at West Virginia University studying child development and family studies. Her platform is entitled “Think About It,” and her talent presentation was a jazz dance to “Baby I’m a Star.”

Schelhase is a student at Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Her platform topic is “Caring for Kids,” and for talent she sang “Jolene.”

In total, six young ladies were crowned, and are eligible to compete in the Miss West Virginia/Outstanding Teen competition during the week of June 25-30 at the Metropolitan Theater in Morgantown.

Miss Elkins Area is an official preliminary leading to the nationally televised Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Miss Elkins Area’s Outstanding Teen competition leads to the national pageant in Orlando, Florida.
