PHILIPPI — The Barbour County Health Department has received a 2018 grant from the Barbour County Community Foundation.

The grant to the Health Department will enable the local agency to install a security camera system that will place cameras on each of the exterior corners of the building and in the waiting room. The Health Department considers increased security important as it provides outdoor activity sites including a basketball court and play areas for children.

Additionally, the security cameras inside and outside will provide an element of safety for staff and clients who make use of the agency’s services, especially during night-time hours.

More than 5,000 people visit the BCHD annually.

Administrator Annette Santilli noted the agency’s leaders are very pleased to have received the grant knowing that it will “assist in the safety and well-being of our clients.”

Barbour County Community Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to building “a better life for the citizens of Barbour County in work, play and retirement.” The foundation has given grants in education, health services, arts, recreation and beautification.
