Tara Shaver has been named the new administrator at ERCC. The Elkins native has worked at the facility since 2012.

ELKINS — Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center has promoted Tara Shaver, from within its leadership team, to serve as the new administrator of the Randolph County-based long-and short-term care facility.

Shaver has been employed at Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center since 2012. During her tenure at ERCC, she has served as director of the Skilled Rehabilitation Unit, director of the Restorative Nursing Department, clinical coordinator and the MDS coordinator.

“We are so pleased with Tara’s growth and continual leadership at ERCC,” stated Bonnie Serrett, ERCC Board of Directors chairperson. “She has shown initiative and drive to take ERCC forward with our goals as a premier healthcare provider in the region.”

Providing care for those in need is something near and dear to Shaver’s heart. In fact, taking care of people is why the newly named administrator got into the field in the first place.

Shaver’s father was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer when she was only 18 years old. The Elkins native helped take care of her father, and it was during that time that she came to find a path for her future.

“I am so honored to be taking on this role at ERCC. I believe that I was set up for this journey early in my life when I decided that taking care of people was something I wanted to do full time,” Shaver said. “I started out as an LPN and I just went from there.”

Nearly 20 years ago, Shaver ventured into the arena of healthcare as an LPN. Shaver went on to obtain her associate’s degree in nursing from Davis & Elkins College.

Providing quality healthcare is Shaver’s top priority, she noted. One of her favorite parts of her job is seeing the residents’ quality of life improve because of the rehabilitation services they receive at ERCC.

“I like to see those positive outcomes, especially from the rehabilitation patients” she added. “Our staff just love bringing joy and happiness to people’s lives.”

As for joy in her life, Shaver has been married to her husband for the past decade. The two have one daughter, Madison, and two dogs. In her spare time, Shaver enjoys boating, camping and a plethora of outdoor activities.

Starting at $3.92/week.
