ELKINS — The H.W. Daniels Post 29 Ladies Auxiliary, in celebration of July 4, presented 10 patriotic bears and blankets to veterans who are residents of Colonial Place. The bears and blankets were made by the residents of Elkins Mountain School as part of their community service and outreach program.

“We are proud and honored to be standing before these great men who served in the armed forces. These men and all veterans deserve all the glory and appreciation for all their sacrifices and going beyond the call of duty,” said Ladies Auxiliary President Becky Manolidis.

A blanket and bear were given to each veteran as a token of appreciation.

“We should never forget the men and women still with us of the ones who have passed on. Each one has helped give us freedom. So may God bless all,” Manolidis said.

The Ladies Auxiliary plans to continue this appreciation project for the veterans at Colonial Place throughout the years to come.
