New Era Christian Academy students compete at ACE Student Convention

ELKINS — Every year students ages 13 and older look forward to attending Regional Student Convention for Accelerated Christian Education Schools. At this convention students from West Virginia and Virginia come together at Appalachian Bible College north of Beckley to compete in academics, athletics, photography and music.

This year New Era Christian Academy in Elkins had four students attend and compete in the following events. Senior Kaylee Ray competed in Bible Bowl, Bible Memory and Photography. She placed fifth in Bible Bowl and second in Bible Memory. Alexyonna Miller, 15, competed in Bible Bowl, 100 meter and 200 meter. She placed fifth in Bible Bowl, second in 100 meter and 200 meter. Rachel Helmick, 13, competed in Bible Bowl, and photography. She placed fifth in Bible Bowl. Alisha Turner, 13, competed in Bible Bowl, 100 meter, limited archery, wood construction and photography. She placed fifth in Bible Bowl, first in 100 meter, first in limited archery, third in wood construction and fourth in photography.

Students who placed first through sixth place are qualified to compete at International Student Convention which this year will be held at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Missouri May 25-30.
