Elkins City Hall News
As you may have seen or heard, Mayor Van Broughton returned to work this past week and in doing so assumed all his duties and responsibilities, including his weekly outdoor office. Weather permitting, you can find the mayor in front of City Hall from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday talking with members of the public. Stop by to ask questions, express concerns or simply to say hello.
Also scheduled for this coming Monday is the first meeting of the ad-hoc Police Chief Hiring Committee. This specially created and appointed committee will be tasked with reviewing the resumes of those individuals interested in becoming the next Chief of Police for the City of Elkins. The committee will determine which applicants they would like to interview and when, the type of information they want to solicit from these interviews and ultimately make a recommendation for appointment to council.
Later in the week, Wednesday at 7 p.m. to be precise, the Elkins Tree Board will meet at the Darden House to discuss a Trees for Wards program, plantings at the Kump House Garden and a Demonstration City grant application. All the city’s meeting agendas as well as council information is now available to view 24 hours a day in the kiosk located at the front of City Hall.
