Elkins City Hall News

This past week was certainly a busy one, full of committee and council meetings. Upcoming, the focus turns to a few of the many boards and commissions authorized by the city who hold regular monthly meetings. These city authorities, boards and commissions operate as quasi-governmental bodies staffed by citizen volunteers who offer guidance and expertise to city officials.

They range from the Airport Authority to the Civil Service Boards to the Tree Board and many other things in between. Visit the city website under the “Government” tab to see a full listing and how you could become involved.

The public is also welcome to attend any of these meetings to observe or offer public comment. Next week check out the Sanitary Board, Monday at 3:15 p.m. at City Hall; the Historic Landmarks Commission at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Darden House; or the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission at the Phil Gainer Community Center on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
